Staff Mobility - European Union/Erasmus+

As part of Erasmus+, university staff can job shadow, teach, and take advantage of opportunities for professional development at a partner university (or other institution of higher education) or company/organisation located in another European country.

Staff Mobility

All university staff members, including doctoral students, can travel to other institutes of higher education or companies/organisations within the EU/EES to take part in workplace professional development.

This may mean job-shadowing, training events, study visits, courses, seminars, or workshops. The courses can be those organised by the European Association for International Education. They can also be courses in English for teachers who plan to teach in English (not subject-specific courses).

You must be away for a minimum of two workdays and a maximum of 6 weeks. A bilateral agreement is not required; however, you will require an invitation and an agenda for the stay.

Teaching Assignment

Teachers, including doctoral students, can apply for a grant to cover the extra costs incurred with teaching at a partner university in an Erasmus country: see partner universities.

  • The exchange can last between two days and 6 weeks, and requires at least eight hours of teaching per week.
  • You can combine Teaching assignment with Staff mobility- in that case 4 teaching hours is sufficient.

Deadline for Application

Plan your exchange well ahead of time. You can apply for grants on an ongoing basis, but if you want to be sure that you take advantage of a staff mobility opportunity before May 31, your application must arrive by March 15 at the latest. Note that the number of grants is limited.

Before Departure

Your exchange needs to be approved by your manager/head of department or supervisor. Therefore, you will normally submit a reseorder to that person, who will then also determine how many hours the exchange period equates to in your TGS, if you are a teacher.

Note that the grant and travel monies are not sent to you personally; instead, they are submitted to the account that covered the costs (for example, the subject's objektnummer).

Submit these then to the Erasmus Coordinator. You can scan all documents and email them.

After You Return

  • Complete the reseräkning in Primula (so that you receive any traktamente and money owing)
  • Submit a Confirmation of Participation.
  • There is an online obligatory evaluation that you must complete: you will receive an email with instructions after your return.
