Language Skills Open New Doors
In terms of the number of speakers, French is the world’s fifth language and the third in the world of commerce. The ability to communicate in French is an asset if you are interested in, for example, trade, culture, media, diplomacy, and international meetings. French is also the fourth most used language on the Internet. Knowledge and understanding of French are beneficial within several academic and scientific fields. In terms of culture, French opens up a world of literature, theatre, poetry, films, and television.
Although more and more French literature is being translated into Swedish, there are still books - especially in French-speaking countries other than France - that remain untranslated. When you know French, you can access and understand many new cultures.
Our Courses in French
At Dalarna University, you can study French from the undergraduate (first-cycle) level to the graduate (second-cycle) level.
All our courses are web-based (online), meaning you can take them no matter your location. Teaching is in real time, and seminars involve a great deal of interaction with your teacher and other students.
As a department, we have long focused on what we term the “French-speaking world”. This means that our courses provide a sound knowledge base of both the language French as well as literature and culture from the French-speaking world. Our team of university teachers all hold doctoral degrees with various specialisations. Several are native speakers of French.
Tips and useful information for online studies
