Language Skills Open New Doors
Knowledge of Portuguese and insight into the cultures of the countries where it is spoken open up all sorts of opportunities: dance samba or listen to fado, enjoy football or practice capoeira, watch Brazilian soap operas on YouTube or read literature written in Portuguese in the original, or go on a charter trip to Cape Verde or Goa – to list but a few popular examples.
Languages open up many new worlds and by learning Portuguese, you can access the cultures of many cultures since Portuguese is spoken in Angola, Brazil, Goa, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Macau, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor.
Communication skills in Portuguese can open up all sorts of opportunities. Portugal is part of the European Union, and hundreds of Swedish companies have established themselves in Brazil. If, for example, you want to work with translation, international trade, or development cooperation, the ability to communicate in Portuguese is always very useful.
