Portuguese: Phonetics and Oral Language Proficiency I

Starts week 36, 2025

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • use basic phonetic terminology to orally describe the Portuguese sound system, and describe differences and similarities with other languages as well as between varieties of Portuguese
  • demonstrate an understanding of different aspects of the Portuguese sound system, such as stress and intonation patterns, and pronounce words and sentences in Portuguese in a way that promotes understanding in the target langauge
  • conduct short oral presentations in Portuguese.
