Communication skills in Portuguese can pave the way to great opportunities in professional life. This makes the ability to communicate in Portuguese particularly useful, especially if you are interested in working with translation, international trade, or development cooperation.

– I had never studied online before, but I took the chance and started studying Portuguese because I had decided to move to São Paulo for a semester.

– I thought it would be complicated, impersonal, and unprofessional, but I was completely wrong. Dalarna University has a very user-friendly system for online education and you get full support. You don’t need loads of computer skills, just a computer with a working microphone and webcam. The virtual classroom has the same functions as a real classroom. There’s a whiteboard, PowerPoint, hand-raising, and chat functions where you can leave comments for the teacher or other students. It didn’t feel much different from sitting in a classroom or lecture hall.

– I was really pleasantly surprised by the teacher’s dedication and flexibility and the personal contact I got with them. This made studies even more enjoyable. I think many people believe that distance learning isn’t particularly serious and that you can work and do other things at the same time, but if you want to succeed in your studies and get the most out of them, you need to take it all seriously. You need more self-discipline and you need to be able to organise your studies on your own since they require more from the student than traditional studies. But the format is great for people who want to study but who for whatever reason cannot be on campus.
