I'm the head of subject in Energy Engineering and the director of doctoral program - Energy Systems in the Built Environment. I teach in energy systems and energy-efficient buildings. I have multidisciplinary research in energy and buildings with a focus on urban energy systems.

Background

I have educational background in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) for bachelor degree, sustainable building design for master degree, solar energy systems for PhD degree and global energy for MBA degree.

I drive my research direction gradually from single energy system to the coupled areas of buildings, energy system, resource efficiency, mobility and data analytics at different scales within the built environment. This is part of regenerative approach for buildings, communities and cities. 

Research

I have interdisciplinary researches from two main streams: 

  • Adaptive Solar Facades and related systems: PV, PVT, heat pump, heat pipe, thermal facade, passive building design, and economic evaluation.
  • Data analytics for buildings and cities: data-driven approaches, building/urban energy system modeling, digitalization, positive energy district, and industrial heating.

Meanwhile, I also serve as 'subject editor' for "Building Simulation" Journal, "Associate Editor" for "Frontiers in Sustainable Cities" Journal and "Member of the editorial board" for "Buildings" Journal, "Innovation Energy" Journal and "Discover Cities" Journal.
