Resources for finding books and articles

You can search for the library's ebooks, printed books and journal articles in the search box on the library's start page. You can also search for books and articles in the following resurces:

  • CALIS
    CALIS (China Academic Library and Information System) is a union catalogue providing information at titles at academic libraries in China.
  • Hong Kong Journals Online
    A full-text database providing access to selected academic and professional journals, both in English and Chinese, published in Hong Kong.
  • Google Scholar 
    NB The search service contains not only scholarly literature but also many non-scholarly sources and dishonest journals. Consequently, you should check that sources are scholarly and that articles are not from blacklisted journals in Cabells – Predatory Reports. To get access to full-text articles in the library’s journal subcriptions, you must activate a library link (See Activate library links in Google Scholar).
  • Linguistics Collection
    Database collection for literature on linguistics and language-related disciplines. The collection searches simultaneously in the databases Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts and Linguistics Database.
  • 臺灣博碩士論文知識加值系統
    National digital collection of theses and dissertations in Taiwan. Some titles are available in full text (requires you to register to access full texts).
  • Taiwan ebook (database)
    A collection of open access e-books in Chinese within a wide range of subjects and maintained by the National Central Library of Taiwan.
  • WorldCat
    A catalogue providing information on titles held by more than 10,000 libraries worldwide.

Encyclopedias and dictionaries

  • Britannica Academic
    The database includes Encyclopædia Britannica and Merriam-Webster (dictionary and thesaurus).
