About KIPS

KIPS at Dalarna University is a centre for implementation and patient safety research that contributes to evidence-based and safe healthcare and social work. KIPS aims to create and foster a knowledge environment that supports and brings together research, education and practice in these fields.

KIPS is a hub for researchers from both Dalarna University and several other universities, as well as for healthcare and social work organisations. It has an established organisation and coordinates and has both externally and internally targeted activities such as lectures and seminars.

Research

KIPS collaborates closely with other researchers and research groups at Dalarna University and has well-established national and international collaboration. Its researchers focus on developing and evaluating methods and strategies to support the implementation of evidence-based practice and safe care, and also on studying implementation and safety work that are integrated into routine practice and procedures. Furthermore, the work includes literature reviews and the development of instruments and methods to measure the various aspects of evidence-based practice, implementation and safe care.

Education

Members of KIPS are responsible for and work with courses at the first cycle (Bachelor’s), second cycle (Master’s) and third cycle (doctoral/PhD) levels, with a focus on the research centre's academic fields: for example, evidence-based care, safe healthcare, implementation of new work methods and implementation research.

Master’s Level (Second Cycle) Courses (in Swedish)

Doctoral Level (Third Cycle) Courses (in Swedish)

Collaboration

KIPS researchers work with other researchers from several different disciplines and professional categories in a range of fields within health care and social services. In the area of implementation, KIPS researchers also work with the Swedish Armed Forces.

Collaboration Partners

Region Dalarna

Region Dalarna collaborates with KIPS through representation from the region’s knowledge management and the research unit Centre for Clinical Research (Centrum för klinisk forskning (CKF). This collaboration allows for a strong connection to the research centre and provides a solid foundation for the integration of the latest research and best practices with regional research and work in the areas of knowledge management, implementation and patient safety. The region values the collaboration with the research centre and sees that it contributes to promoting research, knowledge dissemination and patient safety within the region.

Municipalities in Dalarna

Collaboration between KIPS and Dalarna's municipalities is coordinated through Dalarna’s Centre for Social Services Development (SUD) in which all of Dalarna’s municipalities are represented. The director of SUD regularly participates in the research centre's activities, demonstrating the strength of the research centre. The director is also involved with communication and information-sharing between KIPS and SUD with the aim of highlighting issues from the municipalities that promote relevant research projects for KIPS. SUD-KIPS collaboration also works to disseminate and exchange knowledge so as to promote the circulation of knowledge between KIPS and employees in health and social work in the municipalities of Dalarna.
