What to Expect on Welcome Day for New International Students
During the Welcome Day you will
- Meet staff from the most commonly used support services
- Meet current/previous students who can provide first hand advice about living and studying in Dalarna.
- Make new friends with other new students from over 40 countries!
- Get information about the student union activities and student discounts
- Be able to ask questions of university staff and students
Our goal is to provide a concise and interactive session that will help you feel prepared and welcomed to begin your studies. Additional information about your studies will be provided by your teachers after the semester begins.
About the "Welcome Ceremony"
You may also see another event in the DU calendar called the "Welcome Ceremony". This is a short introduction session (about 30 minutes) held mostly in Swedish for all new students.
It includes a few general talks and presentations — some of which overlap with what you’ll hear during the Welcome Day — but the Welcome Day is much more detailed and tailored specifically to international students. It includes more practical guidance, opportunities to ask questions, and time to meet staff and fellow students.
If you are an international student, we strongly recommend that you attend Welcome Day, as it offers the most relevant and helpful information for your start at Dalarna University. The Welcome Ceremony is encouraged but optional.
