Erik Lundberg, is an Associate Professor of Political Science researching participation and the foundations of democracy. He can answer questions about, the role of civil society in democracy, political participation, voluntary work, young people’s civic engagement, and civil society’s involvement in politics.

Jenny Åberg is a Senior Lecturer in Political Science and an expert on political systems, particularly semi-presidential regimes. She can answer questions about government formation, democratization, and constitutional models in, for example, Ukraine and countries in Africa.

Thomas Sedelius is a Professor of Political Science whose research focuses on political institutions and the development of democracy, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. He can answer questions about semi-presidential systems, presidential power, constitutional systems, and democratization, with an emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe (including Ukraine).

Young People and Civil Society

Ali Abdelzadeh can answer questions about young people’s participation in society; about segregation, differences between girls and boys, and the challenges of maintaining a society with high levels of trust and democratic engagement.

Erik Lundberg, Senior Lecturer in Political Science, can answer questions about the role of civil society for democracy: for example, the importance of civil society in the development of young people's social trust and tolerance, the way civil society affects Swedish policy and the way civil society responds to violent extremism at the local political level.
