Russian III: Oral Language Proficiency

On completion of the course, students shall be able to:

  • initiate and actively participate in spontaneous conversations in Russian
  • summarize shorter authentic texts of varying character and be able to discuss the content of the texts
  • understand a speaker who speaks standard Russian and the speakers communicative intentions
  • make themselves understood in conversations about contemporary society and its current issues.

During the course, students practice their language skills such as speaking and listening comprehension. The course focuses on oral communication that is developed through group discussions based on a selection of authentic Russian audio and video material as well as authentic Russian texts of varying character. Discussions revolve around current issues concerning contemporary society.
