Do you want to strengthen communication in the workplace? Can your organization benefit from improving communication? In the course Communication in the workplace: interculturality and inclusion, you will gain insights into different perspectives on how communication and different communication techniques can promote an inclusive work environment and strengthen the organization itself.
The course has three parts: Introduction, Internship and Theoretical Perspectives.
In the introduction part, you will engage in small-scale, hands-on projects examining communicative methods in intercultural workplace settings. You will be able to tailor the content of these tasks to your specific areas of interest.
The internship part consists of an internship at a workplace where observation and assessment of communication practices are carried out in light of theoretical perspectives. Techniques for enhanced intercultural communication and inclusion at the workplace are explored. The focus is on identifying relevant areas of intervention at the workplace based on communication theories. You will reflect on your own communication in connection to the workplace. Please note that you will be responsible for identifying and setting up your own internship placement, and that your placement must be approved by the course coordinator before the internship begins. Identification and approval of the internship takes place during the first Introduction part of the course.
In the theoretical perspectives part, practice is both deepened and integrated with theories in the field of intercultural communication and communication in the workplace. This part is completed in dialogue with the workplace and focuses on the feasibility of implementing interventions/actions to strengthen communication in the specific workplace.
