Italian B: Oral Proficiency and Cultural Knowledge

Starts week 3, 2027

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • speak Italian effortlessly and reasonably correctly with regard to pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary
  • identify and characterise different regional variants and registers in authentic spoken Italian
  • understand and use the main linguistic and pragmatic structures necessary in formal situations
  • apply idiomatic expressions and an adequate language register in longer presentations
  • problematise and discuss Italian cultural and societal conditions from different perspectives, for example based on issues relating to the environment, gender and ethnicity
  • independently seek and screen information in relevant texts and media documents.
