On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • perform close readings of complex literary texts in the original in a foreign language of their own choosing
  • with good stylistic skills write critically elaborate reviews of literary works
  • describe in detail, and reflect on, the historical, social and biographical context of a number of literary works.
