Electrical Storage Technology and Conversion Technology

The course covers electrical energy storage and various types of electronic power conversion such as basic circuits of power electronics including AC-DC, DC-AC and DC-DC conversion. After an explanation the need for energy storage in both space and time, the course introduces the basics of electrical storage technologies such as electrochemical and electromechanical storage, hydrogen and fuel cells and pumped hydro storage. The course ends with the evaluation of a complete battery energy storage system.
