Supportive counselling
Supportive counselling gives you the opportunity to talk about your experiences, thoughts and feelings in a safe environment. It can be especially helpful when you feel overwhelmed or stressed, experience anxiety or worry, or simply need someone to talk to about everyday concerns.

Individual pastoral care
Individual pastoral care is about receiving support and guidance on matters related to your inner, spiritual and existential well-being. These conversations can help you process life’s big questions, such as meaning, purpose and faith.
Email the university chaplain if you wish to receive individual pastoral care: cva@du.se
Spiritual guidance
Spiritual guidance in the Christian tradition is a more structured form of conversation that focuses on helping you recognise the presence of God in your life. You’ll be supported in your reflections on your faith and spiritual experiences. You may also receive texts from the Bible to use in meditation in your prayers. This form of conversation is for those seeking a deeper understanding of their faith or wanting to deepen their spiritual practice.
Email the university chaplain if you are interested in spiritual guidance: cva@du.se
Confidentiality
The level of confidentiality depends on the type of guidance and meeting.
For individual pastoral care and spiritual guidance, absolute confidentiality applies. This means that what is said during the conversation cannot be disclosed, not even if the person seeking guidance and dialogue requests it. The chaplain cannot be called to court to testify about anything said during confession or individual pastoral care. The chaplain is also obligated to remain silent about the fact that a conversation took place and with whom.
Not all conversations with the chaplain are covered by absolute confidentiality. In counselling, the chaplain has the same confidentiality obligations as counsellors. This form of confidentiality is strict, even if it is not absolute.
