Starts week 36, 2026

The course aims to enable students to improve their ability to express themselves fluently and correctly in German. The students will further deepen and broaden their knowledge of the culture and society of German-speaking countries.
This means that upon completion of the course - in addition to general increased language skills - students shall be able to:

  • express themselves orally and in writing in a reasonably accurate manner and with some linguistic variation regarding content related to a variety of areas
  • use and adapt the language efficiently in and to different social contexts as well as in and to contexts of personal or professional interest
  • demonstrate knowledge of and insight into the modern history and current social manifestations of German-speaking countries
  • make assessments based on knowledge concerning relevant socio-ethical issues and make critical comparisons between conditions in the German-speaking countries and their own experiences with such questions
  • critically evaluate their own learning and identify additional skills required in the subject.
