Learning outcomes for the course
The course aims for students to acquire a deeper insight into German language and cultural history and get an overview of the German language development from the 500‘s to modern times as well as practice their academic writing skills. After completing the course the students shall, in addition to increased overall language skills, be able to:
- demonstrate a deeper insight into the German language structure and history and be able to draw their own conclusions and theorize about German language development
- demonstrate an independent and critical approach to various methods in older and modern linguistic research and be able to discover contrastively important similarities and differences between Swedish and German
- apply basic skills in academic writing when writing a paper
- critically evaluate their own learning and identify any additional competence needs in the subject.
