The course comprises an independent project within the field of mechanical engineering. Relevant existing knowledge is reviewed. The student conducts a theoretical analysis, and the results obtained are discussed, and the student is to draw his or her own conclusions. Usually, the work is carried out at a company or in a higher education institution. The project is documented in the form of a technical report in which the student presents scientifically based analyses and conclusions. Initially the background, problem description, purpose and objective of the work are presented in writing. The project must be approved by the examiner before the work can proceed.
