Introduction to Sustainable Energy Systems

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

· Explain the concept sustainable development.
· Correctly use basic concepts as energy, power and efficiency.
· Perform simple energy calculations and exemplify how energy use in society can be more efficient.
· Explain the energy usage in society and the principal construction of the most common systems for generation, distribution and use of electricity and heat.
· Explain the connection between environmental problems and the energy usage in society, the connected ethical problems and strategies for remedies.
· Discuss the relation between the energy system and sustainable development.
