Thermodynamics

Starts week 46, 2024

Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to:

  • explain basic thermodynamics concepts,
  • formulate and solve thermodynamic problems for simple real material and processes,
  • have knowledge about transport of heat through convection, conduction and radiation as well as be able to perform calculations for each,
  • apply theories and models from thermodynamics and fluid dynamics in a laboratory and reflect over their validity and restrictions,
  • describe the function of different components and their practical use, mainly heat exchangers, heat pumps and cooling devices,
  • perform energy technology related calculations on systems as well as on relevant components, this includes the heat factor on heat pumps, the pressure differences in pipe systems and heat transfer through walls.
