Gynecological and Postpartum Care, Clinical Practice

Starts week 4, 2026

The course includes application, deepening and integration of clinical and theoretical knowledge in connection to care of women and children after birth. Furthermore assessments are carrid out investigating the need for support and security. Custom advice is given based on identified needs. Students should also make observations and assessments of normal and abnormal conditions postpartum and support the establishment of effective breastfeeding. The course also includes applications, deepening and integration of clinical and theoretical knowledge in connection with gynecological health and illness, and active participation in the care of women with gynecological disorders, illness and abortion. The student will apply their skills in assessment, handling of postpartum care, gynecological diseases and illness as well as abortion with the support of medical technical devices, while being mentored by the clinical teacher.The students are traied in planning and taking action based on their observations and assessments, and to monitor, evaluate and document nursing care.
