Bridging The Menopause Gap: Exploring Experience, Knowledge, Perceptions and Healthcare support

This doctoral research project focuses on menopause and equity. Menopause is a universal biological transition that can have long-term impact on health, quality of life and work. Knowledge gaps and barriers to a healthy transition have been identified in both society and healthcare.

Description

The overarching goal of this project is to contribute to a more informed and evidence-based approach to menopause, where women’s experiences, needs, and long-term health are prioritized in both practice and policy.

This project aims to:

• To analyze how menopause is discursively constructed on Sweden’s primary official digital healthcare platform (1177.se) and to examine implications for informed choice and health equity.
• Develop and content-validate a menopause-specific questionnaire assessing women’s access to the preconditions required for informed choice during the menopausal transition.
• To assess women´s access to the preconditions for making informed choices about their health in menopause.
• To describe women’s percived barriers to menopausal healthcare.
