One of the University's sustainable development goals is intended for our programmes:
Overall Goal 2021-2026
In all education that leads to a degree, issues dealing with different aspects of sustainable development must be introduced, discussed and problematised based on the subject area or the student’s future professional role. This is to strengthen the student’s ability to understand and handle complex problems and to reflect on how different perspectives, interests and values affect the priorities of individuals and societies.
How do we work with sustainable development in our courses and programmes?
There has long been a commitment among teaching staff to issues relating to sustainability. To achieve the overall goal, which is intended for all future graduates, all programmes at the University need to be involved in such work. Dalarna University is in the process of developing a guide for teachers and programme directors to help make this possible.
Board Games in Teaching
With the help of board games, students can address sustainability issues in a way that is both engaging and interactive. Dalarna University has access to a number of classroom games that have been developed for education for sustainable development at higher education institutions.
Professional Development for Teachers
Dalarna University offers its teachers the opportunity to take courses so that they can gain an introduction to learning for sustainable development. Choose between a short self-study course or a slightly longer timetabled course.
Award for Best Thesis
Each year, Dalarna University awards a travel grant of SEK 10 000 for a student thesis that most strongly contributes towards a sustainable society. The Council for Sustainable Development at Dalarna University decides who receives the award.
