Taking place this year at Dalarna University between April 24 and 27, the conference is regular event for students from this subject area. Central to its organisation are eight European universities. This year's theme is Limits to Growth - Challenges for the Tourism Industry.

Currently, a great number of tourist destinations throughout the world are facing the challenge of dealing with large numbers of tourists - so-called mass tourism or over tourism. This is why it is important to raise awareness about how to set limits on the development of tourism and the number of visitors.

According to UNWTO (the United Nations' World Tourism Organisation), the number of international tourists had increased by 6 percent in the first three months of 2017 and the total number of tourists now lies at over 1 billion. How will the tourism industry manage such growth? How can sustainable destinations be developed with such a constantly growing number of tourists? These questions and others will be given focus during the conference when attending students present their essays.
