As part of her studies in the Film Design Programme at Dalarna University, Pavlina wrote her thesis on the views people have of advertisements for alcohol in South Africa.
South Africa's laws are liberal when it comes to advertisements for alcohol, with alcoholism being widespread in a country that, according to Pavlina's thesis, has used alcohol as a means of controlling the country's black majority. The focus of the thesis was on the moral aspects and relations to identity, gender and sustainable development.
This is the first time that the Environmental Advisory Board at Dalarna University has awarded the prize for sustainable development. Pavlina will receive a travel grant of 10 000 sek and will be formally awarded her prize on December 12 at 15.00 in the Campus Borlänge library in conjunction with the public lecture ”Vägar till ett hållbart digitalt arbetsliv”.
