- A Swedish nursing licence, and a completed Bachelor‘s degree in any major in the health sciences and Thesis 15 credits
Summary in English
The overall goal is that the student will deepen his or her knowledge of sexual and reproductive health as a human right in relation to different perspectives. In addition, he or she will develop knowledge in reproductive endocrinology, fetal development, sexology, and gynecological conditions, diseases and treatments based on the midwifery profession, professional responsibility and research.
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- describe and analyze women’s sexual and reproductive health as a human right in relation to culture, gender, and bio-psychosocial and sustainability perspectives,
- problematize care measures with a focus on health promotion related to sexually transmitted diseases in light of current legislation and risks of infection and development of resistance,
- analyze the importance of health promotion during the reproductive life-cycle phases in relation to gender, sexuality and relationships based on historical, religious, cultural, ethical and psychosocial perspectives,
- identify problem areas and formulate relevant questions related to pregnancy, legal, spontaneous or provoked termination of pregnancy, sterilization and infertility based on historical, religious, cultural, ethical and psychosocial perspectives on sexuality and relationships,
- describe the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive organs in relation to adjacent organ systems, reproductive endocrinology, breast anatomy and physiology as well as women’s and men’s sexual physiology,
- explain how pregnancy and infertility are determined clinically and how spontaneous and provoked abortion as well as sterilization can be investigated, treated and carried out,
- describe the function of the placenta, embryo growth and fetal development,
- describe benign and malignant gynecological changes; assess and evaluate health status; plan nursing care; and reflect on the impact on sexuality from a life-cycle perspective in relation to these conditions.
