Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, participants are expected to:
- demonstrate basic knowledge of significant schools of sociological social psychology
- demonstrate basic knowledge about theories of social identity and social interaction
- demonstrate a basic abilty to analyse social phenomena from a social psychological point of view
- demonstrate a basic ability to critically reflect upon the nature of social psychological knowledge.
Course Content
This course provides an introduction to the field of sociological social psychology. It covers three important traditions: Symbolic Interactionism, Social Constructivism, and Humanistic Social Psychology, and focuses on topics such as socialisation, identity, social interaction, the drama of everyday life, the power of discourse, and the social psychology of possession, among others.
Assessment
Four mandatory seminars and one written examination.
