Summary in English

Knowledge and understanding

After completion of the course the student shall be able to

  • at a basic level describe different ideas of what social work is
  • show basic knowledge of the development of social work as a profession and as a subject
  • show basic knowledge about goals, methods and theories in social work
  • show a basic understanding of the meaning of professionalism within social work
  • give an account of basic knowledge about ethics and human rights.

Abilities and capabilities

After completion of the course the student shall be able to

  • show a basic ability to describe and understand social work as based on research and experiences of clients and professionals
  • show a basic ability to reflect upon his or her own personal and professional development
  • use and refer to scientific and other sources in a clear and systematic way in accordance to an established format (the APA-format).

Values and attitudes

After completion of the course the student shall be able to

  • show a basic insight into the role and significance of research, the experiences and perspectives of clients, and personal and professional development for social work that is sustainable
  • show a basic ability to view and understand other people`s life situations and life choices from a professional perspective
  • show a basic ability to identify and analyse ethical problems and dilemmas within social work in practice.
