On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- show higher level Chinese language skills in commercial activities
- use appropriate expressions in social gatherings and in the work place
- use appropriate expressions for day-to-day operations such as introducing a company or a product, expressing opinions, making an argument and writing business letters
- use appropriate expressions when consulting and negotiating a plan, discussing a way to cooperate, and analyzing problems
- understand the essentials of Chinese business rules and activities including trade, investment, cooperation and management of enterprises.
This is a language course with the emphasis on advanced business communication skills. The aim of the course is that the students train their communication skills in Chinese to enhance their opportunities to gain success in business. The students study commonly-used commercial vocabularies and expressions, practice presentations of one‘s company and product, participate in group activities (e.g. interviews, negotiation, discussion in the work place, etc.), and discuss the relevant culture, customs and commercial knowledge, as well as the essentials of business rules and activities. Multi-media materials will also be used in this course including audio and video files of the textbook, and short movie clips. Students are required to complete weekly assignments that consist of drills, reading comprehensions, writing short essays, listening comprehension and spoken tasks.
This course applies continuous assessment. Student performance is assessed on the basis of regular written assignments, in-class performance and final written exam.
Forms of Study
Chinese is used as the language of tuition, with English or Swedish as a support language. Teaching is done in the form of class and group activities.
- A minimum of 60 credits in Chinese at undergraduate level, or equivalent knowledge.
