Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students shall be able to:

  • understand clearly spoken Russian about familiar topics
  • participate in Russian conversations about everyday situations
  • read and write simple Russian texts, such as short dialogues
  • use parts of basic Russian grammar correctly.

Course Content

In the course students practice and improve their basic reading skills and acquire an elementary Russian vocabulary. Students also practice their oral proficiency through dialogues that deal with everyday Russian life. The course include the reading of short texts and various listening, pronunciation and writing exercises as well. The course also include work with basic grammatical structures.

Assessment

Continuous assessment of active participation in seminars and written assignments as well as through a final oral and written test.

Forms of Study

Swedish and/or English are used as support languages, but Russian is used as the language of instruction as much as possible. Instruction is conducted in group activities and obligatory seminars.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required on at least 5 credits.

Reporting of Grades:
Module 1: Reading comprehension - 2.5 cr
Module 2: Basic oral language proficiency 2 - 2.5 cr
Module 3: Basic written language proficiency 2 - 2.5 cr

Prerequisites

  • Russian I: Basic Course 1, 7.5 credits on First cycle. No knowledge of Swedish is required.
