Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • compose short Chinese texts within a variety of writing genres or forms such as letters, diaries, (book) reviews, reports and summaries
  • correctly use Chinese conjunctions, prepositions, particles and interjections
  • master the use of Chinese punctuation
  • understand the conventions of Chinese writing
  • review, revise and edit an essay according to standard Chinese Mandarin grammar and writing format.

Course Content

Students perform a variety of exercises including reading, writing, and revising shorter texts and essays. Students also have to complete weekly writing assignments.

Assessment

This course applies continuous assessment. Student performance is assessed on the basis of regular written assignments, active participation in seminars and a final written exam.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Seminars, Written Assignments, Written Examination - 7.5 Credits | U–VG

Entry Requirements

  • 60 credits in Chinese at First cycle, including the courses Chinese in Speech and Writing II, 15 credits, Chinese Oral Proficiency II, 7.5 credits and Chinese Characters II, 7.5 credits

Replaces KI1032.

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
