Learning outcomes for the course
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- describe the sound system of Portuguese orally and in writing by making use of basic phonetic terminology and describe basic differences between Portuguese and other languages as well as between varieties of Portuguese
- understand various aspects of the sound system of Portuguese, including stress and intonation patterns, and pronounce words and sentences in Portuguese so as to aid comprehensibility in native and non-native listeners
- conduct short oral presentations in Portuguese.
