Learning outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • critically reflect on all stages of the nursing process based on a person-centred and evidence-based approach and with a view to the patient‘s care and medical needs,
  • with the support of a supervisor, systematically implement the nursing process for a few patients while adopting a safe, person-centred and evidence-based approach,
  • with the support of a supervisor, in a systematic, correct and clear manner, communicate, document and report information of relevance for patients‘ care to team members and other healthcare providers,
  • with the support of a supervisor, systematically plan, prioritise and allocate work duties within the care team, as well as consult and collaborate with other team members with the profession of registered nurse as a reference point,
  • adopt a professional approach and identify their strengths, limitations and strategies for learning,
  • communicate with patients and relatives with a certain level of independence in an appropriate, clear and empathetic manner that is adapted to the individual and the situation,
  • understand current guidelines, laws and provisions and, with the support of a supervisor, apply these in the provision of care and treatment to ensure both their own safety and the safety of others,
  • with the support of a supervisor, use digital tools and technical equipment in healthcare in a correct and safe manner, and evaluate information provided by these,
  • with the support of a supervisor, handle medication in a correct and safe manner and provide individualised information adapted to the situation about the effects and side effects of the medication,
  • manage residual waste and consumables in a safe and sustainable manner,
  • perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults according to current guidelines for healthcare professionals and relate to theoretical and ethical knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation,
  • identify areas for improvement to promote the safety and quality of care.
