Learning outcomes for the course

The overall objective of the course is to prepare students for oral presentations in academic and professional contexts by developing their awareness of genre.
On completion of the course, students will, in English, be able to:

  • prepare and deliver well-structured formal and informal oral presentations
  • analyse the needs of the target audience, and adapt the form and content of their presentation accordingly
  • communicate orally with experts and non-experts in academic and professional contexts
  • use visual resources to support oral presentations
  • demonstrate a practical awareness of common challenges relating to oral presentations.
