Learning outcomes for the course

The goal of the course is that the student shall have achieved basic knowledge about process control. More specifically, the student shall after concluded the course independent be able to:
  • Explain the different definitions and components for a control system, describe a control system with block diagram and process instrumentation.
  • Understand different kind of process types and give characteristics concerning dynamic and static behaviors.
  • Explain principles and characteristics about different parts of a PID controller.
  • Give different methods to tune a controller.
  • Consider practical problems which can take place during controlling of industrial processes.
