Place and Destination Marketing

The course is composed of two modules. The first module is concerned with destination marketing context and strategies. It deals with the unique characteristics of tourist destinations and the marketing implications of these. As well, case studies, theories and strategies for destination marketing are introduced, and the possible roles of various stakeholders in destination marketing are discussed. The second module deals with destination marketing research. It focuses on critically reviewing scholarly articles about destination marketing and developing students’ ability to identify and formulate research questions that are relevant to understanding the marketing of places as tourist destinations.
