Learning outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between crises, resilience and sustainability in the context of tourism and hospitality
  • Describe different ways and spaces in which crises occur that impact tourism and hospitality
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the main challenges to safety and sustainability faced by tourism and hospitality stakeholders, including communities, organisations and the individual
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of complex systems in tourism and hospitality, with a particular focus on human, technological and organisational factors
  • Demonstrate the ability to reflect upon and articulate the outcomes of a range of crises in the tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors
  • Discuss the utility of a range of models and tools suitable for creating resilience in tourism and hospitality with a focus on future thinking and sustainability
