African Studies: The Dynamics of African Societies

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
  • show general knowledge and a critical understanding of political, social and economic features of African societies since the early 19th century
  • demonstrate a deeper ability to analyse issues of continuity and change in African societies.
  • demonstrate an in-depth understanding of and an ability to apply synchronic and diachronic approaches to the study of African societies and to the study of the relationship between Europe and Africa over time.
