The course is a theoretical course containing elements from probability theory and statistics. The topics included are random variables and distributions, conditional probability, and conditional distributions. Stochastic processes will be introduced. Statistical estimation techniques are presented with accompanying inference. This foundation is carry over to the domain of risk analysis where its scientific foundation is introduced. Techniques to assess quantitative risk such as simulations and scenario analysis will be tried out in a laboratory setting.
