Learning outcomes for the course
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- demonstrate understanding of the Hegelian dialectical framework (thesis–antithesis–synthesis) and apply it to construct logically organised and balanced spoken arguments in Chinese
- collect, critically evaluate, and compile information from a range of Chinese-language sources to support well-informed discussions
- analyse and articulate well-informed perspectives on key issues in contemporary Chinese society and culture, such as evolving social values and traditions, and the impact of digital technologies.
- engage in academic and profession-related dialogues in Chinese by responding to differing viewpoints using contextually appropriate conversation strategies, and culturally sensitive communication
- communicate complex ideas and arguments in spoken Chinese using a clear structure, correct grammar and appropriate advanced and idiomatic vocabulary.
