Play (Kaltura)

Play is Dalarna University’s media service for publishing media (film, sound, and images). You can use it to upload media material, and to record and edit your media.

What is Play?

Play is a media service for video, images, and audio. Dalarna University has subscribed to Sunet Play, which is operated by Kaltura via Nordunet. The Play service gives you automatic access to a personal online storage space.

My Media

Play is fully integrated into the university's learning management systems Learn/Canvas. Teachers and students can access Play directly from both of these. Click on the heading Tools/Play (My Media) in the main menu. There you can upload lectures or other types of media such as video clips, audio recordings, and images. In Play, you can also record and edit your media.

Course Gallery

Media material can be published in a particular place in the Learn/Canvas course room. You access the course gallery from the course menu under the heading Course Gallery/Play (Course Gallery). Here the teacher can create playlists for different components in the course. Depending on the course settings, both teachers and students can interact with published video material in the Course Gallery.

Help Guides

Guides for this media service are available on the staff website, Medarbetarwebben, and in Learn under Publish Material

An introductory course in Canvas is available for teachers that talks about how to use Play and shows how to publish material in courses.

You can also find video guides for Play directly in Play: play.du.se
