The digital twin will be a virtual representation of clients, their homes, and homecare services to support individual assessment, planning, decision-making, execution of services, and follow-up.
The project is ongoing, and preliminary findings have already highlighted the potential of digital twins in homecare services from the perspectives of both older adults and homecare professionals. The results indicate that digital twins can contribute to more person-centred, proactive, and efficient care through improved planning, early identification of care and support needs, enhanced safety, and greater opportunities for preventive interventions. At the same time, both older adults and homecare professionals have highlighted important issues related to privacy, ethics, monitoring, and the importance of preserving human interaction in care. Overall, the findings suggest that digital twins have potential to support the future of homecare, but their implementation needs to take users' needs, values, and concerns into careful consideration.
