Description
This project, conducted under Theme 7 of the SOLVE initiative, explores the comprehensive sustainability of photovoltaic (PV) systems in Sweden. It focuses on life cycle assessment (LCA) of PV technologies adapted to Nordic conditions, the development of sustainability benchmarks for Swedish solar installations, and circular economy solutions for PV module recycling and material recovery. Additionally, it evaluates the environmental impacts of emerging PV applications such as agrivoltaics and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). By establishing scientifically grounded sustainability criteria, the project supports Sweden's renewable energy transition. Close collaboration with industry partners and policymakers ensures that the research outcomes are effectively translated into practice.
