Background

I hold a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. My master's degree is in Physics Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico at the University of Lisbon, with additional studies completed at Eindhoven University of Technology. My former role at Arizona State University included teaching and leading a team of researchers in solar cells and PV module technologies.

Research

My primary expertise is in photovoltaic (PV) systems, including solar cell device physics, PV module manufacturing and characterization, solutions for PV integration, and sustainability of PV systems. I am also interested in energy applications within buildings and cities, system-wide sustainability, and energy equity. My overarching goal is to develop energy solutions that seamlessly integrate into both built and ecological environments while promoting social well-being.
