Study 2 (Qualitative interviews)

Are you a racially minoritised person between 18-59 who has experienced racism in maternal care? Are you a healthcare staff member who works or has worked in maternal care for the past ten years and who wants to share their thoughts on racism in maternal care in an interview?

Information for participants

If you are a racially minoritised person, between 18-59 years and have experienced racism in maternal care in the UK, you can share those experiences with us in an interview as part of our research project. The research project is organised by King’s College London and Dalarna University in Sweden and is funded by the Swedish Research Council. The study has been approved by King’s College London Health Faculties RESC, reference number HR-24/25-45977.

What is this project, and why do you want me to participate?

Research from the UK documents the persistence of racial inequalities among various groups of racially minoritised women. It is therefore important to increase knowledge about the subtle and unconscious racialisation processes that lead to poorer care and ill health. The study aims to utilise this knowledge to improve maternal care in the UK and Sweden as well as other Western settings.

It is important that you read through the research information sheets below before you decide whether you want to participate in the study. If you have read and want to participate in an interview, you can email Sarah Hamed at sarah.hamed@kcl.ac.uk.
