In three new research projects, our researchers, together with companies, public organisations and other research actors, are tackling different parts of the energy transition from more sustainable district heating infrastructure to smarter energy use in buildings and neighbourhoods.
A more sustainable energy system requires more than increased production of renewable energy. The infrastructure needs to be reliable, electricity and heat used smarter, and the solutions need to work for the people affected.
"The projects focus on different parts of the energy system, with a common ambition to contribute to solutions which work better in people's everyday lives," says Xingxing Zhang, Professor of Energy Engineering.
The projects are linked to the interdisciplinary expertise in SERC - Sustainable Energy Research Centre, where energy transition is studied from both technical and societal perspectives.
Dalarna University has a coordinating role in the three projects, which are funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.
