Learning Outcomes
After completion of the course, the student shall be able to:
- Seek, collect and evaluate information and political source material from the field of Political Science
- Demonstrate basic ability in scientific writing
- Independently write a research paper - based on a scientific approach - and then defend it by argumentation
- Demonstrate specific knowledge about a defined research theme within political science
- Demonstrate basic skills in conducting a systematic, critical and constructive review of another scholarly paper.
Course Content
In the course, political analysis and report are examined. In addition, the use of theory in relation to aim is discussed as well as the way in which the theoretical approach ties to chosen research problems. As well, methods for collection and analysis of data are examined and the way in which the student independently presents and reports the findings.
Assessment
Oral and written presentation of University Diploma paper as well as review of another student‘s University Diploma paper.
Forms of Study
Compulsory seminars and research paper tutoring.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.

- Individually written research paper, 7.5 credits
Prerequisites
- A minimum of 45 credits, first cycle level including research methods 7.5 credits, in Political Science
