Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- use basic grammatical terminology to describe Portuguese language usage both orally and in writing
- describe the basic differences and similarities between Portuguese and other languages as well as between varieties of Portuguese
- express themselves both orally and in writing in Portuguese in a way that demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of various aspects of Portuguese, such as language structures, words and expressions.
Course Content
The course consists of the study of grammatical phenomena with practical exercises such as the analysis of grammatical structures, words and expressions. It also includes oral and written group exercises through which the students gradually build their knowledge about Portuguese grammar. Differences and similarities between different varieties of Portuguese are discussed and problematized on the basis of concepts such as language views, norms, and linguistic variation.
Assessment
Grades are based on written tasks, opposition of text and a final written exam.
Forms of Study
The forms of study are lectures, seminars and group work. Portuguese is used as the language of tuition and English and/or Swedish are used as support languages.
