The overall aim of the course is that the students develop their knowledge of epistemology as well as of qualitative and quantitative research methods and how they can be used to develop new knowledge and understanding of importance to educational practice in upper secondary school. The course also deals with research ethics and how to critically evaluate different sources of information. The students also develop their ability to argue for their own stance in educational issues on the basis of scientific research. The course is thus a preparation for the writing of the degree thesis.
